The genius of Trent Reznor

The more I listen to my usual load of my music the more I am amazed that geniuses like Trent Reznor (of NIN fame) and James Maynard Keenan (Tool/APC) don't dominate the scene. I just cannot stop listening to them once I start.
To be totally honest, I haven't listened to everything that NIN has produced so far. I'm a big fan of their last two albums- With Teeth & Year Zero.
JMK on the other hand- I have listened (quite intensively) to both APC and Tool. Mindblowing experiences- the vocals, the abstract and kinda open lyrics, the myriad of sounds within an album. I don't remember relating to any group as much as I have with Tool. APC comes in a close second though ;-) and probably Staind a distant third.

Sometimes a hiatus is a good thing and sometimes it's not. Keeping away from blogging has left me less prone to mulling over a depressing life. Life really isn't that depressing by itself, but it can be made so with a good dose of Staind and Alice in Chains followed by a long drive. Life's many facets are best reviewed under ominous moods, I think, so here I am. Not because I want to, but because I need to.
